A spell is a one-time magical effect.
Casting it uses up energy, limiting the number of spells that can be cast between resting.
To learn magic spells, a library is needed.
After a library is built, time can be spent there researching new spells.

School

Each spell belongs to a school of magic.
In order to learn a spell, a character needs to proficient in the skill corresponding to school of magic.

Enchantment: An enchantment spell affects the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior.

Evocation: These spells manipulate energy or tap an unseen source of power to produce a desired end.

Illusion: Illusion spells deceive the senses or minds of others.

Necromancy: Necromancy spells manipulate the power of death, unlife, and the life force.

Restoration: Restoration spells heal, restore, and fortify the body's attributes and abilities, cure disease, and protect it from other malign influences.

Transmutation: Transmutation spells change the properties of some creature, thing, or condition.

Spell description

Casting a spell takes one turn to complete.
Some spells target the caster, some another object, and others target an area.
Some spells create effects that last several turns.
Increasing the skill associated with a spell makes it stronger, last longer and reduces the required energy to cast it.

Spell books

Spells can be written down in spellbooks.
A character reading this spellbook learns any spells contained within.
